Did Your School Organize
a Dia de Portugal Event?
Dia de Portugal’s spirit includes opportunities to teach
descendants of Portuguese immigrants about the contributions
of Portuguese–Americans to our country. Fostering and
strengthening awareness of the Portuguese heritage is the
main purpose of the Dia de Portugal organizing committee.
To that end, schools that organize a Dia de Portugal event
at their school and have a Portuguese club may be eligible
to receive funds for their club!
Suggestions for events that can be held at schools include:
Organizing a Dia de Portugal Day
that can include folkloric dancing, food, and more
A Dia de Portugal Week, with daily
announcements highlighting contributions by Portuguese–Americans
Organizing a flag raising ceremony
to fly the Portuguese and American flags on June 10th
